Above the Clouds

La Palma is the steepest isle in the world, according to Wikipedia. Giving its position, its height and some other awesome conditions, from the top of the island you can see one of the most clear night sky in the world. Add to that over 320 days of cloud-free skies and you have one of the top three location in the world to build an astronomical observatory.

As a result, on La Palma, geeks like us can visit one of the biggest astronomical observatory in the world, The Observatory at the Roque de Los Muchachos. 15 telescopes are looking at the sky, in all ways possible, from an absolutely astonishing place, above the clouds, at aprox. 2500m.

In my world, there is where I want to live – on a top of the mountain, in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by the Universe… Seriously, can it get any better than that… Maybe on ISS… which we have seen, passing, by luck … but that is another story.
